Instructor/Supplemental Examiner Volunteer Sign-up

Are you interested in helping shape the standards of our industry? We're inviting dedicated professionals to join us as supplemental examiners for our 2025/2026 certification exams. Your experience is crucial in supporting the hands-on laboratory assessments that keep Michigan’s concrete projects compliant and of the highest quality.

As a thank you for your time, all volunteer examiners will receive a gift card to pick out MCA merchandise from our online store. Plus, after eight volunteer sessions, your company will earn a complimentary event registration.

Your commitment makes this certification program possible, and your support helps strengthen Michigan’s concrete community. The MCA has opened registration for the 2025/2026 Certification & Training season. MCA offers a variety of certification and training courses to meet the needs of the concrete industry.

Switching Class Policy:

If you need to switch to a different class date, please contact our office at (517) 347-7720. NOTE: there will be a $50 fee for each person that you switch that must be paid prior to making the switch. Substitutions are allowed.

Cancellation/Refund Policy:

REFUND: Only Available prior to shipping class materials (3 weeks prior to the start of class.) There will be a $250 processing fee for cancellations.

NO REFUND: Once class materials have been shipped, there will be no refund. Substitutions are allowed.

TBD POLICY:

IF YOUR COMPANY IS RESERVING SEATS FOR A TBD STUDENT, THE NAMES OF THE STUDENTS MUST BE SUBMITTED TO THE MCA NO LATER THAN 3 WEEKS PRIOR TO THE CLASS. IF NAMES ARE NOT RECEIVED, THE BOOKS WILL BE AUTOMATICALLY SHIPPED TO THE INDIVIDUAL WHO REGISTERED THE TBD FOR THE CLASS. CANCELLATION POLICY APPLIES TO TBD'S.

Pavement Design for Designers & Non-Designers and Why You Should Care

While pavement design is a small part of a concrete pavement project, it can have a significant impact on the feasibility. Design and design optimization are essential to creating concrete designs that can be competitive with other pavement solutions. Modern design tools are well-suited to develop, analyze, and optimize concrete pavement and overlay designs to meet performance goals within budgets, but oftentimes the optimization strategies are overlooked and lead to less competitive solutions. This webinar will go through the basics of concrete pavement and overlay design, why both designers and non-designers should care about these designs and the optimization process, and strategies to effectively optimize designs for both performance and cost.

Presenters include Eric Ferrebee, ACPA’s Senior Director, Technical Services and Jim Mack, Associate Principal with WJE.
